The Liquid Study marks the natural progression of Sebastian Mader’s work from the Stasis series. While the previous study focused on the total conservation of specimens held in ice, this inquiry transitions the focus into the fluid state.

Liquid Pop documents the move from the crystalline preservation of ice to a medium in constant motion. Where the ice was static and protective, the liquid is unpredictable and never the same twice. Starting with floral specimens and expanding to various objects, this study explores the transition from one extreme of matter to another, capturing an architecture of fluid that exists only in the moment of documentation.

    Provenance & Technical History +

    The Progression (2024)
The Liquid Study was initiated as a direct evolution of the Stasis series. By shifting focus from ice to liquid, the studio transitioned the inquiry from biological suspension to the exploration of fluid motion.

    Subject Documentation
Beginning with the floral specimens used in the original ice studies, the inquiry expanded to include diverse objects to understand the behavior of liquid matter. The process focuses on documenting the unrepeatable geometry formed during the interaction between the subject and the fluid.
